Psychological Counselling is used in many situations including the promotion of mental and physical health. Counselling works by helping the client objectively look at behaviours, feelings and thoughts in situations that they find troublesome. Psychological counselling can be effective in helping the client to learn more effective ways to deal with situations that they feel are stressful.
There are many approaches to outpatient psychological counselling and various ways for it to take place -- including individual, group or family sessions. No matter where it takes place all psychological counselling is a two-way process that works especially well when the person served and their psychologists communicate openly.
